Celebrating 30 Years of Girl Choristers at Wells

Calling all former choristers!

On 15th June 2024 we will be celebrating 30 Years of Girl Choristers in Wells Cathedral Choir and we are having a special celebration! We are extending a very warm invitation to ALL former choristers - girls and boys - as well as former organists and organ scholars to help us mark this special anniversary.

The programme of the day’s events will be as follows:

Morning: Former Girl Choristers Reunion
The day will begin with reunion events for all former girl choristers

11.00am Reception with tea & coffee
11.30am Celebratory Reunion Brunch in the Cedars Drawing Room
1.00pm Tour of Wells Cathedral School, including Cedars Hall (optional)

Afternoon: Celebratory Evensong and Reception for all Former Girl and Boy Choristers
For the afternoon’s celebrations, ALL former choristers are invited to join us to create a ‘Reunion Choir’ and rehearse and sing Evensong in the Cathedral Nave. A new introit by award-winning composer Joanna Marsh has been commissioned by Cathedral Commissions for the occasion and will receive its premiere during the service

1.45pm for 2.00pm All Former Choristers gather to form a ‘Renunion Choir’ and rehearse in the Cathedral Nave
3.15pm Refreshments for Reunion Choir members in the Quilter Hall
4.15pm Former Choristers join the Cathedral Choir for rehearsal in the Cathedral Nave
5.15pm Celebration Evensong to include the world premiere of a new work by Joanna Marsh
6.15pm - 9.00pm Celebration Evening Reception for all in the John Baxter Foyer (Cedars Hall)
